What happened

On October 13, 2026, Google made Gemini 4 Argon available beyond the earlier limited cyber program. Developers and enterprises can call it through the paid Gemini API in AI Studio. Google AI Ultra subscribers can use it in Google Antigravity. Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers can use it in the Gemini app and in AI Mode in Search. The introductory price is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input at 95 percent off. Google says that price lasts through November 30, 2026. After that, the public model is $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. The API limit is 1 million tokens shared by input and output.

Why it matters

This is the model Google wants on long coding, research, and agent jobs, and the part a team can act on today is the price and who is allowed in. At the introductory rate, a million tokens in and a million out cost $12, against $24 for Muse Wonder or Claude Opus 5.5 and $60 for GPT-6 Astra or Claude Fable 5.1 at those labs' standard list prices. That comparison is list price only, and it ends November 30. The app is not open to everyone: Pro or Ultra is required. Google's benchmark claims, including a first-place ranking on the Vals Index, are Google's.

Google first described Argon on September 30, 2026, for a limited set of cyber defenders in the Fairwind Program, and said a wider release would follow. October 13 is the wider release.

The developer post points at a continuation protocol for jobs that run long, and at Google Antigravity as the agent product. Those are setup details, not a second model.
